    Mihi Whakatau

    In becoming a member of Massey University it is important to us that you are welcomed appropriately. Our event will start with a whakatau led by Professor Meihana Durie, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Māori. This will be followed by a welcome from Professor Cynthia White, Pro Vice-Chancellor, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and then the student president of your student association, Massey @ Distance.

    At Massey we are fortunate to have world class teachers and experts in online learning. Dr Ella Kahu is one of those experts and she will be talking to you along with Heather Aguilar from our BASE+ programme about how to get the most from your online learning experience.

    There are a number of important systems and tools you will use as an online learner at Massey. Kat Cuttriss, Carla Jeffrey and Jean Jacoby will share with you how systems such as Stream work and how to use the Library from a distance.

    We’re here to assist you in achieving your learning goals with a range of support information and services available to you, anytime, anywhere. In this session Dr Cherie Todd-Williamson and Cathryn Broomfield will outline our online services including OWLL: The Online Writing & Learning Link and our student development and support hub MyHub.

    Ngā mahinga tauira ā-ipurangi

    Just because you are studying online doesn’t mean you are disconnected from your peers or what is going on at the University. Izzy Mickleson will introduce details of our online student community and provide you tips on how to stay connected to each other and the University even though you are not with us in person.
